A yacht in Phuket for a sunset, a day or a week
We choose the boat to suit the route and the month, not the other way round. We arrange the captain, crew, menu, national park tickets and a fallback route in case of wind. All we need from you is a date and the number of guests.
- Format
- sunset, day or week: motor yacht, catamaran, sailing yacht
- Shortlist
- two or three boats, with a route for your month and the forecast
- Marinas
- Ao Po, Royal Phuket, Boat Lagoon—the car from your villa is part of the same plan
- Licensing
- only boats licensed for commercial charter
What we take care of
- We choose the vessel for the number of guests and the sea on your dates: motor yacht, catamaran or sailing yacht.
- We check that the vessel is licensed for commercial charter. A foreign-flagged yacht can obtain a charter licence from 24 m (previously from 30 m), and may then take no more than 12 guests on board.
- We plan the route by season and forecast, and arrange e-tickets for the national parks.
- We agree the menu, drinks, cake, music and photographer. The car from your villa to the marina is part of the same plan.
- If children are on board, we check life jackets for size before departure. If there is an occasion—a proposal or a birthday—the crew knows the plan in advance.
- We keep a fallback ready: if the wind picks up, we head for a sheltered bay or move the departure.
The month decides where to go
November to April: open sea
In these months the Andaman Sea is calm, there is little rain, and it is the season for the Similan Islands. No more than 3,850 visitors are admitted a day and tickets are electronic only—so we secure the date early.
Yachts do not go into Maya Bay on Phi Phi: guests land in neighbouring Loh Samah Bay and continue on foot along a boardwalk. You have about an hour on the beach, and swimming is not allowed. The bay opens at 07:00; we time the departure from the marina to make the first sessions.
May to October: sheltered bays
May to October is the rainy season, and red flags often fly over open water in the west. Captains head into sheltered Phang Nga Bay; Racha and Coral Island are visited only on calm days—the decision is made each morning, by the sea.
A week and beyond
Superyacht season runs from November to March or April. In seven days you can cruise Phang Nga Bay, Koh Hong, Phi Phi and Racha.
A weekly charter is priced as the charter fee plus expenses. The advance provisioning allowance (APA) for fuel, berthing and provisions is usually 20–40% of the fee. Under a MYBA contract, half is paid on signing and the balance five weeks before departure.
How it works
Request. A date and a back-up date, the number of guests and whether there are children, the occasion, the format: sunset, day or week.
Shortlist. Two or three vessels with photos, a route for your month and the price: what is included and what is extra.
Agreement. Contract and advance payment. The rule for weather rescheduling—in writing, before you pay.
The day before. The captain checks the forecast. If it is windy, we propose another route or a new date. The menu and transfer are already confirmed.
On the day. The car is at your villa, the crew meets you at the marina. Your manager stays in touch while you are at sea.
